2020 Growing season update

 In Blog

This year we planted 2500 new trees in new fields.   The species planted were Fraser fir, Balsam Fir, Scotch Pine and Black Hills Spruce.  We have approximately 7500 trees in various ages of growth planted.   All of our trees were fertilized three times during the year and agricultural sulfur was spread to optimize Ph levels for tree growing.   Some of our trees got their first shearing.   Every year presents new challenges and this year was no exception.   Early spring excessive rain and mid summer drought are good examples but overall it was good tree growing year.  All of our lanes between trees are planted with a white clover ground cover.   A new field for 2021 has been prepped with a cover crop that was then tilled in to provide a natural source of nitrogen.
