2019 Growing Season
2019 started off a very difficult planting season as the farm experienced 16″ of rain in 6 weeks. This made planting a tough task. We were able to plant 4200 trees. They were made up of Fraser Fir, Balsam Fir, Concolor Fir, Canaan Fir, Black Hills Spruce, White pine and Scotch pine. The wet spring made for a heavy dose of weeds the remainder of the year. Trees were sheared in summer and were provided multiple applications of fertilizer. The field work of mowing is starting to slow down and our attention will turn to the Christmas tree sales season. Every year we try and build on the previous year and this year is no exception as we will be adding innovative wreath designs like horse heads, improving garland display and sizing choices, and finally painting some trees for sale with colors like white, pink and blue.
